Little Crochet: Modern Designs for Babies and Toddlers
There are several sections in this book broken down by "Getting started" with a wonderful sizing chart and guides, Little Nursery (includes blankets, a mobile, felted play rug; Little Clothes including a boat neck sweater, sundress, vest, leg warmers, and more. Also a great section is Little Gifts which includes bibs, booties, beanie, owl pillow, jingle ball and more.
Each pattern includes diagrams, for those of you who are more visual and prefer to use diagrams, as well as yarn substitutions, skill levels and tips. Most of the clothing sizes go from 0-6 months up to 3-4 years. Finally, someone who understands that a million patterns are out there for little girls, but few for little boys.
This book is a keeper as it has gifts that can be made in a few hours. Full color pictures, including swatches, as well as plenty of "How To" instructions. My favorite part of this is the use of modern sophisticated colors versus the pastels of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Almost all of the patterns are shown in alternate palettes and striping techniques. The appendix page includes an in-depth refresher course on basic and advanced stitch techniques, as well as great finishing techniques including embroidery, sewing and applique.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this book a 10 for those of you who love to make baby and toddler items or for those of you who have little ones in your life.
