Yarnbombing! Mystery Solved, but they still keep on knitting!

Remember the posting I did on March 11 about the Midnight Mystery Knitter?  Mystery has been solved and they keep on knitting.  Our local paper did another article on this group from Cape May, The Salty Knits and copycat artists are following suit in Philadelphia and who else knows where.  They do have a website, www.saltyknits.com and a Facebook page too (SaltyKnits) and yes, I fanned them.  The new trend is called "yarnbombing" and remember, it started in little ole South Jersey by the Salty Knits!

I think this is fab, but the idea about copycats is way off, knitta started the trend qyite a while ago, and people have been doing it for a few years now. The yarnbombing book came out last year.

I think it's great too. Our local paper reported the copycats and mentioned it happening in Philadelphia now, as an "off-spring" of the report on the news about it. I am sure it's been done elsewhere, just like everything else. Nothing is ever new :)

How true. We just all seem to add our own twist :) I suspect the paper said copycat because they haven't seen it before themselves and don't realize.
I wish the group all the best and POO to the person who removed their knitting. We have been lucky, our village seems to LOVE knit graffiti, even to the point the village maintenance crew took our knitting off a damaged street pole and replaced it on the new pole. My friend and I were happily gobsmacked they did that.
