The Christmas (Af)Ghan

I finished it, at 1:21 AM on December 27th because I decided it needed a border. I had picked out the colors last year to go with the decor in his place here in NJ and started a ripple, but how I hated the ripple. I didn't think it was a big deal to him, however, apparently it was. Luckily, he added a new room to his house in Delaware and it was just completed and the colors matched that decor even better.

Christmas Eve I told him it wasn't done, showed a pic of a semi-completed ghan and swore I would finish it while at his place in Delaware. So I dragged it with me and did finish it there.

Finished dimensions are unknown-1:21 AM was too late for me to measure it. It was about 54" wide and covered his entire 5'11" body, so that was all that mattered. He loved it. Totally made up pattern. The Bubbles stitch, all done in Red Heart Soft Yarn (about 14 skeins with bits of leftovers), K hook and alternating stripes of 13 rows each. Colors were Leaf, Toast, Honey and Chocolate and the edging was just 2 sc rounds and a shell stitch around the edging.

Elena had a terrific Christmas-lots of DS games, Wii Games, all the stuff tweens want. Even clothing was acceptable, as long as it was Justice. The tree after Santa arrived, but before Elena tore in.

Elena on Christmas Eve:

And finally, a truly awful picture Elena took of me on the Ferry on the way to Delaware, but shows how short my hair is now and believe it or not, it's due for a trim later this week.

I hope everyone had a great holiday and has a Happy New Year!

You look great! I love the new hair cut. It really suits you.

The afghan turned out wonderful. I know you're glad to be finished with it.
I only made a couple of magic square hot pads and two scrubbies for a gift this year. I'm still not back into crocheting.

The short do is really you, deneen! I love short hair, it's been several years since I've chopped it off that much but I have been thinking of it a lot lately.

I'm jealous of the ghan. It matches my living room perfectly and I adore it!

The afghan looks great! Short hair suits you - I can't do short hair myself though - it doesn't look right on me, not to mention finding the time and money for the frequent hair cuts it requires!

I'm glad you had a good Christmas!
