Saturday-Shrek the Third

Not much going on, I finished the main part of the Slouch Bag and will seam it up and start the handles later. I know, it's taking me forever, but I just don't have time for hobbies much lately. More on that another day.

We took Elena to see Shrek the Third today. She knew it came out yesterday and woke up at 7:29 AM and the first thing out of her mouth is "can we please go see Shrek the Third?"-this continued for an hour. The theater near us had it showing in 5 or 6 different sub-theaters-it was still busy. The movie was good-I thought better then the second (you can never top the first of any movie, can you?)-Mike thought the first was the best, he liked the second better then the third, but what does he know? Elena loved it, as I knew she would. Unfortunately, all the hype recently about it, ads, everything, including Nick constantly having previews, showed almost all the truly funny parts, but I still liked it anyway. Elena swoons over Justin Timberlake and proclaimed she "adored Artie"-it would have been cool if they had played one of his songs as part of the soundtrack. I told Elena not to worry, the fourth installment, already planned, will have lots of Artie-she kept giggling every time JT's part came on and would whisper, "oh, it's Justin Timberlake again"-oh to be 7 years old again, well not really, but to be 20 again......

Aww, that made me smile, reading about Elena's crush on Justin Timberlake. Nothing like the first crush a girl has hey? :)

I loved Shrek 2, more than the first Shrek. I look forward to Shrek 3, but it will have to wait until it is on DVD.

Actually, the first crush is Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter). I don't remember being that young and having crushes, but then again, I don't remember being that young.

Elena has good taste in both her crushes! And I also have a crush on JT! sshhh Don't tell anyone since I am a grown woman and that is kind of silly!

I remember my first crush. I was in 3rd grade and he was in 6th. He had no idea who I was but when I was a freshman and he was a senior we dated. He did not believe me when I said I had a crush on him in the 3rd grade, I actually had to show him my yearbook from that year with the big heart around him.

We went and saw Shrek the Third yesterday, too. I thought it was good. But I did like the first and second one better. I liked all the fairy tale characters in it, though. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel (trader)... :p

I've been wishing tha there was a child I could borrow somewhere, so I could have an excuse to go see Shrek III. Elena's crush has just made me want to go see it even more. Oh well, like Wendy, I'll have to wait for it to come out on dvd.
Shrek I is my favorite so far, although I did love Puss 'n Boots in Shrek II. It was the music in Shrek I that made it my favorite.

I'm waiting till Shrek 3 comes to the $1.50 theatre- it kills me to pay over $20 to take the kiddos! For that price, I could own the DVD :)

I agree on the price thing. Mike had been pumping Elena up about the movie-we always go to matinees because it's $6.50 a head-then Mike gets popcorn and Elena gets nachos and drinks, etc and then that adds another $22.00-I don't know how family's can do it as often as they do and then buy all the food and stuff there.

Usually Mike and Elena see a movie as a thing for Elena's good report cards, but I wanted to see Shrek this time, so I tagged along.

There is one place that sometimes has the cheap movies, but they are usually movies that have been on DVD for about 3 years and by then, we probably own whatever DVD the movie was.

Thanks for the review. :) Shrek III has been getting panned in our local paper, but I think I still want to see it. Hmmm.. given the number of noisy kids in a theater, I may just wait for dvd anyway.

I think I'm more of a Ron-crush than a Harry-crush... but then I'm old enough that I shouldn't be crushing on either. ;) It's more of a "if I were younger" thing...

Speaking of not beating the first movies, I think Toy Story 2 was better than the original, but I agree that it's very rare. I like Shrek much better than Shrek II, mostly because I like the making fun of fairy tales better than making fun of modern stuff.
