Go Look At This

I had been wracking my brain trying to figure out what to get Elena's teacher for a year end gift (or what to make her) and was at a complete loss. Then, I saw this etsy seller and got an idea. Elena's teacher was a casino executive for years and changed her career just a few years ago-to be a first grade teacher (big change, eh?). Her teacher loves teaching-she wasn't a wide eyed recent college graduate who thought she wanted to teach and is kinda in a rut-she isn't someone putting her time in either, she loves teaching and loves the kids and it shows in her class and with her students.

I then found Analiese Designs on Etsy. She has a website and a blog too.

Anyway, her teacher is big into cool handmade items, funky little necklaces and such and I had to do this. My kids artwork on a pendant-yes indeedy. Look, the one for the teacher is on the right done in a pastel type crayons. She was even nice enough to put "Love, Elena 2006-2007" on the back for me. The other pendant, it's for me, of course. My daughters own self portrait (although the shoulder thing perplexes me a bit) and why are her hands like that? Her right hand is doing sign language for the letter "E". And on the teacher's, I am clueless as to why the bird and the butterfly are so big-through the eyes of a child I guess.

What you do is scan a copy to her and she shrinks it down and does it on polymer clay (and yes, I have a ton of polymer here, the machine to press it the bead thingy for it and no, I haven't looked at it-). I ordered the linen necklaces to go on it too.

You think her teacher will like it?

I plan to order myself another pendant, this one a retro print to go with my Seafoam aka stone vest too.
