Over the Top

Yes, I have gone there. I picked up the latest issue of Crochet Today! last week and, of all things, I fell in love with this:

which contain two of my most loathed crochet things: Making Granny Squares and using Red Heart Super Saver.

It looks so rich though, doesn't it? The perfect gift for my brother for either his birthday or next Christmas. The perfect thing to do when I am in a rut, squares, 35 of em. Then join em. I know it's over the top, but the OCD in me already compelled me to order the yarn for it this AM. Aargh, I am hopeless sometimes.

Onto other news, it's cold-ass biting cold. The highs tomorrow are only supposed to maybe be in the 20's and that doesn't count wind chill. Snow is predicted for Wednesday too-lovely. And by the weekend, the 50's-Mother Nature give me a break already.

Nothing crafty except for piles of dishcloths. Don't ask. I have been cranking them out left and right.

Oh and BTW, I am NOT drinking a six pack of coke and pureed asparagus for the kidney stone. It's not that bad yet and honestly, I like asparagus and I like Coke, just not together in a shake and I can't imagine the gas from drinking a six pack in one sitting, let alone the pee from drinking a bunch of asparagus. This will be filed away under "desperate measures". No, I haven't contacted the urologist-again, it's not that bad yet.

Well, off for lab work for the scope next week. Yuk.

I didn't know you loated granny squares. I love red heart yarn. I'm an acrylic whore. LOL!

Tomorrow is going to be so cold. Saturday we got spoiled. I wish spring would get here.

Busy, I hate making granny squares and I don't know why and no, I have never joined a bunch a squares either. I think it's the whole repetitive thing that gets me.

As for RHSS, I just don't like using it. It's never super soft and some of the variegated has a weird dye smell that annoys me. Yes, I have sensitive sense of smell. I like some scrylics, Caron Simply Soft is a fav of mine.

I think I would have used a yarn other than RHSS.

It's *nippy* here this morning too!

Six pack of coke and pureed asparagus? Yuck! (And why puree the asparagus, why not just eat some nice steamed asparagus?)

I really loved that afghan too - something about those colors. But I don't like making the same thing over & over so my granny days are pretty much over, I think!

Although, I do have an idea for something to make that uses RH. (I feel so dirty even admitting it! LOL)

I don't think I will ever be in enough pain and discomfort to drink a 6 pack of coke and asparagus shake. eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!
I don't mind doing grannys they use up the yarn stubbs and I found my book with a granny sampler in it. Not to many repeats.
I don't mind using RHSS because I am CHEAP. Besides it is the only yarn I found that works for my doll making, tigher stiches.

Coke and asparagus??!!?? Did I miss something ? That sounds terrible.

I like the afghan. The granny squares will go by quickly (I promise). :-0

I purchased Crochet Today and love the granny square afghan, I don't mind using Red Heart when working up blankets/afghans.. I usually steam iron the blanket once its completed, which becomes soft and then throw it into the wash.. for extra softness.

I love that afghan, too--but I don't know if I will ever have the patience to make it. ;)

And it is freezing here, too! I am going to start making myself another snuggly scarf. ;D (In this weather, maybe I should make a snuggly cocoon? Heehee...)

I do grannys in moderation. As for joining squares, well you know I am bad about "finishing" projects.

Coke and asparagus shake - Oh my!

That's so funny--I also loved those colors and I can't stand making granny squares (recent blog post not withstanding), I think what I like about it is the shades of red, and I might use the color idea for something else...
