Icky Monday

Yep, it's icky all right. I am sick of the cold weather and a supposed storm is coming this way-predictions of a foot of snow, but I am betting and theorizing we'll get about 2" tops.

Not much crafty went on this weekend. The house socks were a disaster-I worked on them on and off all weekend and finally frogged them last night. They fit correctly length wise, had the correct stitch count, were wide as heck-looked ridiculous. I also used Red Heart Strata to try for cool striping. The stuff is crap (IMHO). It's rough, just like RHSS and feels icky. Won't be doing that again (yes, I frogged the stuff because Elena might like a doll house rug or something made from it). Okay, I was being cheap about it too. I have a pair of chenille house socks Elena gave me for Christmas and I keep threatening to try to copy the pattern and I will work on it, just don't know when.

I started the shawl from Crochet Me! last night and plan to start a Lacy Shell Poncho out of Divine for Elena this week. Yes I know, ponchos are out, but she's 7 and wants a shorter one to wear in school (one that won't cover her arms, etc). She wears the shrug I made her periodically and I could make a shrug (scroll down, it's the 3rd and 4th picture) from this as I did 1 1/2 years ago with the Divine-Elena loves it now, of course, but I hate the sleeve part of the shrug and how it can be a bit tight and Divine has no give that way. Of course, Elena loves it cause it's pink and fluffy (the reason I dislike it), but I picked up a couple skeins a few weeks ago for $2 each and figured I would make her a little something.

I stopped the steroids yesterday, only took 5 mg on Saturday and had a shitty weekend. Soreness, the bad headaches I get from the taper, the whole shebang. My coloring is pretty pale and bad and I look like shit. The headache finally subsided a bit and I went to bed around 10:00 PM-great, right? Elena woke up at 2:00 AM with a stomach ache. Nothing serious, a stomach ache, but she has vomiting issues. She's only vomited once in all her years (not including spit up) and frankly, never wants it to happen again, so one tummy ache and she's bellowing. I sat up with her for about 1/2 hour and she fell asleep and then I couldn't. I was up all night, tossing, turning, running a temp. Yup, off the steroids and then temp came back-it would break, then I guess come back, break.....if it continues I'll have to see a rheumatologist. Damn.

This AM will be spent cooking-I have to dip the chocolate covered pretzels and bag em up for the party on Wednesday (which, if we get that foot of snow will be postponed), but I also decided to make some granola bars this AM. Both Marvie and Stacy posted the recipes eons ago, I saved em and since they are so similar, will use a combo of both. I already have dinner in the crock pot, so I am set for the day. I have work all day tomorrow, so I am trying to get stuff taken care of today so that, if I do get sicker, it's done.

I am so depressing sometimes, aren't I?

I hope you start feeling better.
I know it gets tiring feeling bad so much, especially when you were feeling better there for a bit.
Take care

Oh dear! Gentle hugs for you. It's no fun feeling crappy. You're entitled to be grumpy. Take it easy today.

We are all entitled to be down in the dumps. I'm so behind on blog reading. Love your finished projects....especially that tape measure! Hope you feel better soon!!!!

{{{hugs}}} to you! I do hope that you start feeling better soon. I have made that same shawl from Crochet Me. While I liked how quickly it worked up, it was far too deep a V for my taste. I rapidly gifted it to someone. I noticed you have been on a FO frenzy! Nicely done! I hope once we get settled (read moved and in the new house) I will have more time to make FO's! :o)

Hope the weather passes us both by, I really need a few days in bed, but don't want to miss visits with Tim. Hope you're feeling better now. I'm glad I didn't by the Strata.

It sucks when we aren't feeling well, so vent all you want. Sorry to hear the socks didn't go as planned. I have had the same trouble with crochet socks. I learned to knit with that goal in mind, but still have not mastered casting onto five needles to get started.Argh!

The pretzel idea sounds lovely...I may have to pick stuff up to make some for my family for Valentines day. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we will get snow, tons of it. Remember, I bought those tickets to the King Tut exhibit for this week! LOL!
