WIP Wednesday

I know it's not Wednesday, but lately my time is not my own. I am working on the tam/beret pattern I blogged about last week. No, my JA order hasn't come in, but I am using Bernat Cloudspun-a vintage yarn someone gave me that 15% wool, 15% mohair and 70% acrylic. It looks about WW, maybe a tad thinner and by following the pattern, the hat was coming out huge (sub yarn, you know how that goes and there's no gauge to go by)-anyway, I stopped on the rounds when it reached the correct size for the top part, 4 rounds short, so we shall see how that turns out.

I also completed two of the CD Hotpads I was working on-a great way to recycle those old AOL CD's they always seem to be sending me, as well as other garbage I keep getting in the form of CD's-I just save them all and plan to use them that way.

A pic of Elena's completed shrug-the sleeves are exactly the same length, getting her to pose this AM was a chore in itself and she pulled one sleeve over as I was taking the pic. She wore it to school (yay for me) and she said her teacher loved it, etc. Yarn is the Paton's Fab yarn (DK acrylic) I picked up in Bermuda (so it's UK yarn)-about 400 yards. Pattern is the Fluffy Pink shrug schematics-body done in V-stitch, FPdc/BPdc arm cuffs and sc for several rounds around the neckline. Done with an Clover H hook (for those who will ask about the pattern, yarn, etc).

As for being busy, I worked at the law office today, got home to a message from the school about subbing for music tomorrow (easy class, watching videos all day-I shall bring a book or perhaps crochet), but I am going to miss volunteering tomorrow in Elena's class, however, I should be able to grab lunch with the class. While she had me on the phone and knowing how when she calls me at 6:30 AM I either miss the call or turn her down because I have other stuff (they know my schedule, yet call for days I told them I couldn't work) she hit me for subbing next Wednesday (5th grade) and next Thursday (Special Ed), I said yes to all of them. The schedule also means I will miss volunteering in Elena's class next week too and I admit, I am nervous about middle school subbing versus the little ones. At least the girl down the street is in the class I'll be subbing for, so I'll know at least one of the students and know she'll help me out. I also will work at the law office this Thursday (or at home, haven't decided yet), but have to get some forms generated in the computer. I worked on the court docket have of today and did expungement filing the other half. In any event, it looks like Friday and Monday are the only days off for the next week (not including the weekend, but I do have Elena's birthday party on Sunday) and Friday I have a follow up rheumy appointment which will chew up almost the whole day between travel time and appointment.

Add to the mix, the contract crochet job #2 yarn has been shipped to arrive this week and it has to be done ASAP-Christmas baking will have to wait (and apparently so will any cleaning I had planned).
