This is a weird Foodie Friday for me. Why, you ask? Even if you didn't ask, I'm gonna tell ya-
Occasionally, I will google my name-I like to see if people made things from some of my free patterns and check them out since most always link to me. Anyway, I have learned that sometimes Yahoo! search has more items then Google, so I started using Yahoo! What a surprise when I came upon this:
Asparagus Pie Recipe
Asparagus Pie ... It makes for a pretty presentation on a brunch buffet.—Deneen St. Amour, Hammonton, New Jersey
Of course I clicked it-and I realized it was a recipe that I had sent into "Taste of Home" magazine for a contest they were having at least 9 years ago (I know this because I haven't lived in Hammonton for 9 years now and that's the addy they had for where I lived). Anyway, I read through it and realize, it's in The Taste of Home Ground Beef Cookbook, published I don't know when and Reader's Digest did a reprint on it in 2005 (the cover is different, same cookbook). I am perplexed because I never heard anything about it, never did a release or anything. I also realize that if I did enter it in the contest 9 years ago and moved and they didn't publish it for several years, they would have no way to contact me. I contacted them and indeed it is in the book and yes, they will send me a complimentary copy (much like CPAD Calendar does) and yes, they will contact me with all the other info.
I am telling you, if they hadn't started the online recipe finder, I never would have known. This has to be new also because I usually check every few months through Yahoo! and Google.
So here is my recipe for this week (please note, where it says biscuit/baking mix, it should have read buttermilk baking mix (Bisquick), but I guess they don't allow brand names to be listed. I make this recipe a few times a year (when I remember to have Mike pick up Bisquick and when I have fresh asparagus on hand).
Without further ado:
