Foodie Friday-Basic Salad

I don't know where I got this recipe, but I know it's been a long time. I've tweaked it to perfection now and made some changes, but here it is:

Basic Salad

2 heads Romaine lettuce (or any lettuce you want) (washed and chopped or torn into small pieces)
1 clove garlic
3/4 tsp Dijon Mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp white sugar
2 tablespoons red or white wine vinegar
4 tablespoons olive oil

These are optional ingredients I have added: Chopped tomato, chopped cucumber, sliced sweet peppers, roasted peppers, croutons, etc. The original recipe was a "honeymoon salad"-lettuce alone, but like I said, I changed some stuff.

This will serve 4 people, halve it to serve 2

Cut Garlic in half and rub garlic around salad bowl; add mustard, salt, pepper, sugar, vinegar and oil and blend thoroughly using a whisk. Add the lettuce (and any other chopped ingredients you plan to add) and mix thoroughly.

Let this stand about 20 minutes already mixed before serving (it makes the world of difference letting it sit this time).
