Darn Bolero!

The title seems like everything lately has been going wonky and it has! I am working on this bolero. I am using the exact yarn and hook called for and yet, guess what, I think I'm gonna run out of yarn! I had one big ball of it (which was what was needed) and about 1/3 of leftovers from another ball from other projects. This may be just enough to do the bolero and not the edging. It was supposed to take only one ball!

I also found an error in the written pattern, no biggie and I fixed it quickly enough, but am so damn pissed that I may run out of yarn-it won't be done by tomorrow and I don't have ready access to this yarn! If I don't have enough yarn, I will have to order it online and pay shipping that is higher than the damn yarn-why, oh why do I get these ideas in my head and then rush to do them? Why do I hate being "under pressure" to finish certain items and hate them in the process?

I still have to pack...I hate packing because I either overpack or underpack and I don't know which is worse. Elena had to try on clothes this AM cause she's been bumming around in summer shorts/tops for playing in and I had to find out if her "nicer" summer clothes fit. Most did, a few were a tad big. Unfortunately, she hates trying on clothes, so it was a battle. At least her stuff is arranged and together and ready for the suitcase. It's tough with kids because I end up packing extra outfits in case of spills, accidents, cold, warmth, etc. I haven't even figured out my stuff yet and really, don't care. I'm tired already. Mike will pick his stuff and it's always hectic as all trying to get everything for the carry-on together (scripts, makeup, crochet stuff, books, extra clothes-yes, I've had luggage lost and it sucks. I got it back, but was stuck a day without anything).

Plus, I am supposed to go get a dress tomorrow in case I decide to go to the formal. Nothing like waiting for the last minute....

Ugh, I hate it when a pattern calls for X amount of yarn and it's not even close to how much you need.

I can empathize with you on the packing bit - I hate it and unpacking every bit as much. You know, from our disaster of a mini-trip to IN (how many?) weeks ago I still have crap in my overnight bag to be unpacked.

Sorry about the bolero. I wish I knew what to tell you. This is probably what keeps me from attempting garments of my own. I just have this overwhelming feeling that they would not work out for me. Maybe put it down until you get back and decide what to do then? Take some small projects along to keep you occupied and a couple of books instead?

Relax, I'm hoping you'll have a wonderful trip and great weather!

I always overpack for fear of forgetting something. Don will be all "why are you packing four pairs of socks? It's only overnight" but I just have to do it--if I don't that'll be the one time I need extra stuff.

I'm an over packer too. Better safe than sorry is my motto...gack! I sound like my mother! :-)

Hi... I was reading down your page and read about the short and sweet... I was making that one and I had it come out fine... I just hated the yarn I was using and never really attempted to get other yarn. There is corrections for this pattern and Vera from I cant think of her blogs name at this moment made that one too and it came out beautiful.
