My Lion "Suede" Shawl

There have been a lot of questions about yarn usage, etc and it's easier to post the answer. The pattern is from the Lion Website and is the suede shawl pattern. This is a smaller shawl, not a full one. Can be tied at the in front for a sleek look. I just crocheted, doing increase per row as directed, til it measured 55"across.

I used a thin acrylic chenille, 1500 yards per pound. I held two strands together throughout and used a K hook, just check your gauge according to the pattern. I purchased the chenille from Melanie at Fiber-Options on eBay. The color is Poppy and this was only $5.50 for three big cones, approx weight about 4 lbs. She charges actual shipping and ships fast. She has this now on BIN. Anyway, I used about 10-12 ounces for this shawl. I may make tassels for the ends, haven't decided yet.

The lion site states you would need four balls of the "suede" for this, so at $8.99 (Canadian price) per ball it would work out to be over $30.00. Using Melanie's chenille, it cost about $4.00 (including the shipping of the yarn) to make.

Anyway, worked up easily, simple pattern. The poppy is really pretty yarn, much nicer than I ever anticipated at such a good price.

Any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me!

Huhs and happy hooking!!
