It's my opinion...blame it on Mitzi

You can blame this entire post on Mitzi who has made me think and now I have to get it all out before I explode!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Just because I feel strongly about something, I do not believe in bullying you into feeling the same way nor do I think any less of you for having your beliefs and opinions. I actually think more of people when they speak their minds, whether I agree or not. That being said, here goes:

1) I believe in same sex marriages. I am not gay, but believe that gay couples are entitled to the same rights I am. I believe they, if they are in a partnered relationship, they should get death benefits and insurance benefits from their "spouse".

2) I believe in pro-choice. It is an individual choice. I am not an abortion advocate, I just think it is up to the individual, not for a stranger to decide what can and cannot be done to your own body.

3) I am anti-NRA. I think police should carry guns and guns can be used for hunting purposes only. Assault rifles and hand guns do not have to be in our homes. I am always surprised when I read that most police associations are pro-NRA because they, of all people, should want assault rifles off of our streets. They see the harm that can be done and they also are the ones that are confronted with these weapons when they approach a suspect.

4) I believe in Darwin's Theory of Evolution. I never thought about it until I studied anthropology in college and it makes sense. It is logical.

5) I believe in recycling. We have to take care of our Earth.

I am a Catholic and was raised a Catholic and went to Catholic elementary school, but have some problems with a few of my church's doctrines. I believe in God, don't eat meat on Ash Wednesday or Good Friday (some things are hard to shake), but feel I can worship God in my own way, without any specific church affiliation.

I believe actions speak more loudly than words and you are judged in the end by your actions. I don't believe God would in any way condemn me for my beliefs, so I hope you won't either.

Okay, my rant is over, now I have to find something witty and amusing for tomorrow.

I agree with you. :) (I'm not Catholic, but my father's Roman Catholic priest told him that didn't mean I couldn't be a good person. I *like* that priest!)

Thanks for this post. I often feel I'm alone in a sea of conservative crocheters. I read Mitzi's post that inspired this, and I think what she had to say is just awesome!
